The Igla MANPADS anti-aircraft gunner trainer is designed for training and preparing anti-aircraft gunners in visual detection of air targets, preliminary and direct preparation for firing, launching a guided anti-aircraft missile, and assessing shooting results in classroom conditions.
The system makes it possible to create and adjust projects of enemy air raids with visualization of the tactical situation on a cartographic base. It provides simulation of the flight of various types of air targets (up to 8 simultaneously) taking their tactical and technical characteristics into account within a radius of up to 8 km. Selection of the shooter's position within a 2×2 km square, designation of landmarks and firing sectors is supported. The trainer realistically reproduces missile flight taking homing characteristics into account, possible detonation or miss variants, and also the sound effects of the system and the battlefield. Visualization of signs of targets beyond the capabilities of the MANPADS and simulation of identification using the NRZ are provided.
The trainer is distinguished by a high degree of realism thanks to: accurate reproduction of the operation of the Igla MANPADS; use of virtual reality glasses; modeling of various air situation scenarios; consideration of the tactical and technical characteristics of targets and the missile. The system automatically evaluates the anti-aircraft gunner's actions, records errors, stores the results of all training sessions and generates reports. Two types of firing (“HEAD-ON” and “TAIL-CHASE”) and two modes of the launch mechanism (“MANUAL” and “AUTOMATIC”) are supported.
The package includes: the instructor's workstation, the anti-aircraft gunner's workstation with a stand for the MANPADS simulator, a protective helmet with virtual reality glasses, a full set of operating documentation, spare parts and transport packaging. The trainer provides realistic simulation of all stages of combat work with the Igla MANPADS without using real ammunition. The class instructor can: configure training conditions; observe the trainee's actions and the state of the MANPADS controls; monitor the sensitivity zone of the homing head; conduct a review of actions with a group of trainees. The system provides duplication of the anti-aircraft gunner's field of view and display of the parameters of the selected target. All elements of the trainer are supplied ready for use and make it possible to practice the full range of skills in using the Igla MANPADS in various tactical situations.
